We got lucky with the break in the weather this morning; it cleared up long enough to get the drone out and shoot the runoff. It was about 28,000 CFS this morning on the South Fork of the American River. (Aerial footage shot at Chili Bar River Park, the property at All-Outdoors California Whitewater Rafting and Henningsen Lotus Park.)

“I’ve been practicing for a few weeks and managed to edit together my first drone video with footage of our local river flooding yesterday. I am absolutely floored on the range and stability of the Mavic inside of a river canyon; I accidentally lost sight of it when it went around the river bend but it continued to maintain a strong signal. Is the signal bouncing off the canyon walls? (I know I “shouldn’t” do this, still learning.)” –Jamie Low
