This guide for drone owners for commercial filming in US. as of February 19, 2016 FAA Regulation, all drones must be registered before you can fly. A $5 fee can paid along with your registration at faa.gov/uas.

 

Key information on the regulation:

  • Flying drone without registration is subject to civil penalty up to $27,500 and criminal penalty up to $250,000 and 3 years in prison.
  • Each drone must display a registration number provided by FAA.
  • Your drone cannot weigh more than 55 pounds.

 

Where you cannot fly?

  • Over national parks
  • Military bases
  • Over stadiums and sport events
  • Over emergency response effort
  • Altitude higher than 400 feet
  • Within 5 miles of airport
  • Within 25 feet of another person.
